K2C PODCAST #2 | Kruger's SINGITA LEBOMBO
"Part Two: 24 hours at a luxury safari lodge"
|
Kruger2Canyons.com spent a fabulous day exploring and documenting Singita Kruger Private Reserve, deep inside the Kruger National Park on the border with Mozambique. |
In this second part of "24 Hours in the Life of a Luxury Lodge", we get a behind-the-scenes insight into the time, care and effort that goes into ensuring that your Safari is out of this world, and why Singita routinely scores highly in various world's best hotels awards.
We sample the outstanding food and beverage offering, before talking to the Chef de Cuisine, and the Sommelier in his temperature-controlled cave surrounded by his Wines of Excellence and Diners' Club awards. We have a poke around the cellar with its 4,500 bottles of selected South African wine, plus French champagnes.
Teamwork is the key, with Singita priding itself on an impeccable, but unobstrusive, level of service to its Guests. The complement of staff, mainly from the local community, outnumbers the Guests by a ratio comparable to that of the finest Cruise Ships (160:42). They are responsible for everything from the clockwork-smooth running of the Lodge and anticipating Guests' every need, to maintaining the property and grading the dirt roads you will use on your Game Drives.
We talk to the management about the ambition and design of the Lodge- "touching the earth lightly", the entire property can be disassembled to leave no long-term environmental impact.
We finish our evening with a chat to a number of the staff about what makes Singita a special place to them- a fascinating insight.
If you are enthused by this, feel free to explore our Fly-In Safaris, including all of Singita's properties.
