A short drive over the border into Mozambique from Nelspruit lies the fabulous Incomati Estuary Lodge, only 50kms from Maputo. Here you can see an azure sea, a pristine beach, and you can enjoy tiger-fishing, swimming and snorkelling. Enjoy our powerboats, canoes, and (uniquely in Southern Mozambique) ride our horses. Fancy an evening sundowner boat cruise? It's available. Then there is wonderful seafood lovingly created by our chefs. The Lodge is a place to relax in after a long, hot Safari. Unleash our Horses at Incomati Estuary Lodge
We have eight Boerperd horses. They offer a good ride for anyone from the novice to the seasoned rider. Our experienced Guides will lead riding excursions to suit the capabalities of our visitors. There are large open plains to explore and, for the adventurous, bush and beach to enjoy. Our favourite excursion is a half day trip to the beach with a picnic!
Dhow Rides at Incomati Estuary Lodge
The water activities are particularly strong here, with a choice ranging from canoes to powerboats. There are trips to islands across the estuary in motor-powered boats (up to six passengers at a time). Or a longer excursion to the sea if that appeals to you. A ride downriver to the beach on the powerboat is great fun and can be arranged, but it costs extra.

The line-fishing is exceptional. Tiger fish are one of the specialities of our waters. Canoes with Guides are available for line-fishing on the River. We can also offer deep sea fishing by powerboat for those with sea legs at an extra charge.
We can also arrange trips with the local boatmen who make their catches by net.
Or just relax into the roomy lounge and bar area, and enjoy the view from the deck over the river. Claim a hammock next to the pool for a siesta. Be entertained by this Estuary's sweet/ salt water contrast which is home to hippo, dolphins and crocodiles.

This is not a classic African big game venue, but the remoteness is superb, the birding is great, and we offer walks to enjoy the amazing local ornithology.
Whilst the river, beach and horse activities are the major attractions, we can organise visits to the local schools, church, village and neighboring artists (Elvis is particulary popular with our Guests).

THE LODGE
There are four en-suite cabins set out along the Incomati Estuary mouth, each with a private viewing deck. The Lodge has the benefit of the beach within easy distance and it enjoys the seclusion of a private getaway. Incomati Estuary Lodge is a perfect holiday setting for a family or group of friends. The chefs delight in preparing seafood using traditional Mozambiquan dishes.
