Hoedspruit Deepsea Angling Club
Hoedspruit Deepsea Angling Club began life as a members' establishment for local anglers who spent their spare time fishing off the coast of Mozambique. It became a place to return triumphantly with your catch, which would be carefully prepared by the resident family owners. Or, indeed, empty hands and long yarns for the bar.
It received the largest ever blue marlin landed, a monster weighing in excess of 500kg. There is a replica of the beast mounted on the walls of the restaurant, and it is told that it required three separate functions, held in the large room at the back of the restaurant, to demolish it.
The Club is now open to the public and members alike from Monday until Saturday from 11am until late. Find it on the second Orpen Road heading out of Hoedspruit towards Tzaneen, turning left at the Khamai Reptile Park.
Contact Mags or Erich to book on 072 368 6369. They are licensed and offer food to take away.
